In situ interlayer hot forging arc plasma directed energy deposition of Inconel® 625: microstructure evolution during heat treatments

چکیده
The study reports that the combined use of in situ interlayer hot forging and post-deposition heat treatment (PDHT) could alter typical coarse oriented microstructure Ni-based superalloy 625 obtained by arc plasma directed energy deposition (DED) to a fine non-oriented condition. In synchrotron X-ray diffraction electron backscatter showed high-temperature (1100 °C/ 1 h) PDHT induced significant recrystallization, leading grain refinement low texture index, while partially dissolving deleterious Laves δ phases. Low-temperature (980 had limited effect on size formation secondary It is shown conventional treatments applied DED are not conducive optimized features. enough crystal defects promote static recrystallization during PDHT. Besides, met AMS 5662 requirements.

Investigation of microstructure in additive manufactured Inconel 625 by spatially resolved neutron transmission spectroscopy
Non-destructive testing techniques based on neutron imaging and diffraction can provide information on the internal structure of relatively thick metal samples (up to several cm), which are opaque to other conventional non-destructive methods. Spatially resolved neutron transmission spectroscopy is an extension of traditional neutron radiography, where multiple images are acquired simultaneousl...

Powder injection molding of superalloys offer a potential route for the manufacture of small and geometrically complex components for the aircraft engine industry. In this investigation, 625 and 718 alloy powders with an average size below 10 pm were injection molded into tensile test bars which were then sintered in a hydrogen atmosphere at diverse temperatures after debinding. Other 718 alloy...
